Shakespeare's "The Taming of the Shrew" is the launch point for Pakistani-American playwright Ayad Akhtar's "The Who & the What."

Akhtar (@ayadakhtar) tells Here & Now's Meghna Chakrabarti that he found parallels in how the play and Islam treat the roles of men and women. The playwright won a Pulitzer Prize for his play "Disgraced," and he’s also the writer and star of the film "The War Within."

This segment aired on April 21, 2017.
