Showers and some thunderstorms rumbled through the area yesterday and overnight. Today we are just left with a lot of humidity. I can't rule out a shower or thunderstorm this morning, but for the most part this is not going to be a wet day.

There can be some breaks of sunshine and temperatures are going to be well above average, getting into the mid-to-upper 80s.

Boston did not reach 90 yesterday and therefore this latest bout of heat does not contain an official heat wave. In my opinion, this is totally ridiculous — just because the fact that Logan Airport didn't hit 90 degrees three days in a row doesn't mean that we all haven't been experiencing extreme heat. It has felt in the 90s for more than three days in a row, no matter what the actual mercury said at Logan Airport.

Overnight temperatures have not gone below 70 since early on the morning of Aug.1. Boston may go below 70 this weekend, which would make this a very long streak of such warmth.

This would tie the third longest streak where temperatures haven't gone below 70 on record. The fourth longest streak occurred back in July. I know a lot of folks really enjoy summer, but this summer seems like it's been almost too hot to enjoy the so-called nice weather.

Tomorrow will feature a lot of sunshine and it will be very warm, but the humidity levels will be lower. The moisture returns on the weekend with higher levels of humidity, but not as impressive as what we just experienced. Temperatures will also be in the low to mid-80s instead of near 90.
