Forecast: One More Day Of Gloomy Weather

We have one more day of the cloudy and damp weather before sunshine starts returning for the middle part of the week and the weekend.

A weather system moving across New England today will bring the chance for showers in a pop-up storm as the system moves further east tonight. Wednesday, the chance of showers decreases and I'm actually thinking that Thursday and Friday are pretty nice days with plenty of sunshine and warm temperatures — nice for the beach if you are on vacation.

As for the weekend, although it's still several days away, there's some conflicting model data as to whether or not we'll see any showers or not Saturday and into Sunday. There's a chance that we just end up fairly humid with a blend of clouds and sunshine but we'll have to keep an eye on a weather system dropping down from the northwest that could ignite some showers and storms.

Boston has already had more than 3 inches of rain this month and if it stopped raining entirely, we would still end up with a fairly average amount of rain for August. We have had adequate rain over the past several weeks and most of southern New England doesn't need any water for a little while.

I've been recommending if you're able to turn off irrigation you do so as the lower sun angle this time of year combined with all the adequate moisture means you can at least save water, although your electricity bill may be higher because of all the air conditioning.
