The National Institutes of Health says it has no plans to move 26 former lab chimpanzees to a wooded sanctuary in Louisiana, even though a federal judge ruled in 2022 that the agency was violating federal law by keeping the chimps housed at a lab in New Mexico.

Rana Smith, president and CEO of Chimp Haven, the sanctuary where these chimps are supposed to go, joins us to discuss.

This segment aired on May 30, 2024.
