There's growing concern about "side shows," impromptu car rallies that involve racing, doing donuts, and attracting crowds that shut down streets and bridges.

A big element, especially since 2020, is crowd hostility toward police when they show up. Cities and police departments around the U.S. are cracking down in different ways, from hefty fines to confiscating cars.
