This year, Memorial Day falls on on May 27, a day dedicated to honor and mourn U.S. military personnel who died while serving the armed forces.

To remember those lost, flags representing service members from the commonwealth who died in duty will stand in front of the Massachusetts Fallen Heroes Memorial in the Seaport leading up to the holiday. Parades and ceremonies will take place across the state throughout the holiday weekend.

The long weekend is also known as the unofficial start to summer. The weather is looking fantastic for the weekend so you're sure to see some folks hit the beach to usher in the season.
