The 2019 World Cup has featured several controversial replay reviews using the VAR, or "Video Assistant Referee." In a Wednesday match, a penalty shot retaken as a result of VAR cost Scotland a spot in the knockout stage of the tournament. Toronto-based sports writer Shireen Ahmed, who also hosts the "Burn It All Down" podcast, shares her thoughts.

Plus, the Lakers and Pelicans have agreed on a trade which would unite Anthony Davis with LeBron James in LA. But the Washington Post's Jerry Brewer is not ready to declare the Lakers the team to beat.

And MLB has given the Tampa Bay Rays its approval to explore playing half of its future home games in Montreal. Only A Game's Karen Given thinks the "Ex-Rays" has a nice ring to it.
