Outgoing BTU president embraces new challenge as leader of statewide union

Jessica Tang has spent her whole early professional career in the Boston Public Schools, first as a teacher and a member of the Boston Teachers Union, then as president of the union. Along the way, she's achieved a number of firsts as an Asian American, openly queer woman looking to carve out a prominent role in shaping education policy.
She's stepping down as head of the BTU this spring and taking on a new title: president of the statewide branch of the American Federation of Teachers, which represents 25,000 members. Tang joins Radio Boston to talk about the her new role.
