A new book takes a deep look at the stark wealth gap between Black and white Americans.

The authors, Ebony Reed and Louise Story, followed the lives of seven Black Americans over the last three years. They also traced their histories and family trees to connect the dots on why the wealth gap has been so persistent.

The book “Fifteen Cents on the Dollar: How Americans Made the Black-White Wealth Gap” will be out June 18.

Co-author, journalist and filmmaker Louise Story joined WBUR's Radio Boston in studio.

This segment aired on May 31, 2024.
