New reports are detailing more turmoil for the state's Cannabis Control Commission.

Several high-ranking women staffers are alleging the communications chief, Cedric Sinclair, bullied them during their time there, according to reporting from WBUR. Sinclair is now suspended and the director of human resources, Justin Shrader, has since left the commission.

Meanwhile, the commission's chair, Shannon O'Brien, is in a battle to keep her job with Massachusetts Treasurer Deb Goldberg — the person who appointed her.

So how can the commission handle the responsibility of laying the groundwork and guardrails for a new $6 billion industry while regulating a tumultuous culture? WBUR’s Walter Wuthmann joins Radio Boston to discuss.

This segment aired on June 4, 2024.
