"Investor" is a word that conjures up images of sophisticated traders in fancy clothes and a lot of numbers on screens. It can seem like complicated stuff.

But Sarah Samuels, an investor and a partner at Boston-based NEPC, thinks kids as young as 6 can invest.

Samuels is on a mission to teach young kids about healthy financial habits. Her day job includes overseeing more than $1.6 trillion in assets for NEPC. She's also the author of a  children's book called "Braving our Savings" and the founder of a program called "30 Seconds of Bravery."

To her, learning to invest is about learning to tackle something that seems complicated and scary. It's a lesson in bravery — and it's one that stretches far beyond finances.

This segment aired on June 10, 2024.
