State opioid overdose deaths rates show uneven progress

Data released last week from the State Department of Public Health says overdoses deaths were down 10% last year — the largest single year drop in over a decade. But in Boston, the city recorded the highest number of overdose deaths in seven years.

Still, in both data sets, Black and Hispanic residents had higher rates of fatal overdoses than White residents. Radio Boston learns more with WBUR's Martha Bebinger.
